Evergreen Valley Vineyards
"We were Green before Green was cool!"
A glass of Evergreen Valley wine is good for the environment and good for you:
Our wines are produced in a manner close to nature, with ample hand labor and minimum energy usage, to simultaneously ensure quality and a gentle footprint on the environment. Natural energy is used wherever possible, and minimal fossil fuel use is emphasized throughout the operation..
Grapes grown on site reduce transportation energy, fresh harvest increases wine quality.
No-till cultivation method helps ensure that the vineyard soil accumulates carbon based organic humus and pulls CO2 out of environment, binding it into the vineyard soils as a valuable asset.
Waste products are composted and reused wherever possible, recycled where not.
Bottles and materials are locally sourced where possible, biodegradable and/or recyclable material is always preferred in the process.
Packaging uses recycled material wherever possible.
Wine, always a heavy product, requires energy to ship. Our PA wines are more eco-friendly than wines arriving via cross country shipping, or worse, via the global shipping network. By avoiding the use of materials shipped from the Far East, we avoid the carbon emissions involved in shipment as well as the typically less regulated emissions involved in manufacture in those countries.
Earth sheltering of winery facility coupled with solar or other zero-carbon emission heating systems prevents tons of CO2 entering the atmosphere each year.
Of course, you probably already know that wine can be very good for you as well. If you don't know the benefits of regular moderate wine consumption, by all means ask us when you visit. Helping save the environment and helping people be happy and healthy - at the same time - that's our true mission here!
